At the beginning of this year, my dad was diagnosed with cardiovascular disease but due to different reasons, he did not go through surgery at that time.

On 24th June 2020, when he visited the hospital again, the doctor said he needed to go through thoracotomy rather than minimally invasive surgery. He was so nervous and afraid that he could hardly make up his mind to go through surgery.

That same week on a Tuesday night, when the Pastor prayed for those whose left side was suffering, I sensed strongly that God was working in my family and wanted to bring healing to my dad.

I finally decided to go back to China as I wanted to accompany my family through that season. However, the earliest flight that I could book was at the end of August. There was nothing else I could do apart from praying for them and caring for them through video calls.

Three weeks later (16th July 2020), I received a message from my mum late at night:
“Have you fallen asleep?”
“Pray for your dad’s health.”

When I saw the message, it was 5 in the morning. I was shocked and nervous because exactly the night before, I had a nightmare of a car accident happening to me and my family. I was praying in the dream. I could hardly fall asleep and I kept praying and worshipping God for an hour. After that, there was an assurance from God that He is in control. There was a peace in my heart that surpassed all that had happened.

I thank God for His protection and covering. My dad suffered from a bone fracture but the other parts of his body were unaffected. I thank God for the spiritual brothers and sisters that kept encouraging and supporting each of my family members. I thank God that I have this strong spiritual weapon to intercede and fight against the battle for my family even when I don’t know what will happen and how it will happen. I thank God for the transcending peace and unshakable hope that nothing else in this world can rob of us. In the midst of chaos, still, I believe that there is power in the name of Jesus.

Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
